'Jana' = "All men & women: normalli termed
'The Citizen' of a country"
However, in case the Government of a country is 'Janataantrik', this does not mean that:
"The country remains Janataanrik but goes on attacking other countries even for making them Janatantrik"; since by and large 'Jana' = Mankind as a whole.
In English there is no word equivalent to 'Janatantara'.
'Democracy' = 'Demonstration-cracy' i.e. the system of Government where people can 'demonstrate' for their demand (s), even if the country be a Kingdom / Monarchy. e.g. 'United Kingdom', India, Germany of 2017 but not 'Saudi Arabia' where people can not demonstrate against the Goverment.
Thus, one of the Great Son of the Earth
'Abraham Lincoln'
had to define his 'Democracy' as:
"The government by the people, for the people and of the people"
= 'Janatantra' in one word or
= LD: "Lincolnian Democracy".

Janatantra is not = 'Democracy'
as being taught in Indian English Schools.
